Things to do Berlin Free Walking Tour
Discover the history of the city that marked the development of the XX century on our Berlin Free Walking Tour. We will happily show you everything about the capital of Germany and heart of Europe that you can’t miss, as we take a stroll through its streets and main monuments, filled with authentic history.
Firstly, we will get amazed by the impressive Brandenburg Gate, landmark of the past, present and future of Berlin. Located in Pariser Platz, this became a symbol of reunified Germany and a poignant reminder of Berlin’s tragedies and triumphs. Then, we will continue towards the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe, about 19,000 squares meters long covered with 2,771 concrete slabs arranged in a grid pattern.
After passing through the Checkpoint Charlie border crossing, we will come across some remains of the Berlin Wall and the Luftwaffe Museum, a former Nazi ministry. Meanwhile, our English speaking guide will tell us some stories about how the life was in East and West Germany and about the Führerbunker, the bunker where Hitler spent the last moments of his life.
We will then continue our journey along the Bebelplatz, the fascinating square where, sadly, the Nazi book burning took place in 1933, and through Gendarmenmarkt, the most beautiful square in the city where two cathedrals are situated on either side.
Finally, we will get immersed in the Imperial Berlin, capital of the Kingdom of Prussia and the German Empire. We will visit the Museum Island, declared World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1999; the imperial City Palace in the process of reconstruction, the protestant Berlin Cathedral, the famous Unter den Linden avenue and the Humboldt University, the oldest one in Berlin.
Make the best of your stay with our Berlin Free Walking Tour, and get immersed in a fascinating route along the history and the dramatic past of the German capital city.
