Pontevedra Experience Tour

Our starting point is the Monument to the Heroes built in honour of those who fought in the battle of Ponte Sampaio, it recalls the Spanish victory in the battle over the Napoleonic troops. From here don´t dare miss some of the city’s secrets which includes buildings dating back to the 19th century like the Town Hall or the Diputación Provincial (Provincial Council).

This port and maritime city opens up wide its medieval walls and gives us a chance to immerse ourselves in what remains of them. We´ll admire the exterior of Santa Maria la Mayor, one of the most important temples for the locals of Pontevedra which features on its façade an unusual image. Let’s see if you’re able to spot St. Jerome wearing glasses for yourself! 

Carry on towards the banks of the Lérez river where we will admire the bridges that owe their name to the city amongst which stands el Burgo. Once a strategic point and an entrance from the north, a crossing point for those following the Portuguese Camino de Santiago. 

A great deal of life in Pontevedra takes place in its squares. Continue towards

Plaza de Abastos, the perfect place which blends Galicia´s culture with its gastronomy. Don´t forget to stop and sample the traditional products! 

We´ll end our Pontevedra Experience Tour at the famous Church of the Pilgrim which is very well known as the Pilgrim Virgin is the patron of the city. Although our last stop will take place in a typical restaurant serving local food! Not to be forgotten though is the fact that dessert and coffee will be served in the restaurant El Parador.
