The tour starts from the Ferreria Square, the very heart of the city, where the evolution of Pontevedra through the centuries will be explained. From a strategic point to cross the river at Roman times, continuing in the hectic 15th century when Pontevedra’s sailors conquered the seas, until nowadays, when Pontevedra is a model of urban development that has obtained plenty of international recognition.
From the starting point we move to the next square, the impressive Peregrina church that show us the Camino to Santiago. The tour continues at the Alameda with the governmental buildings and at the Santa Maria basilica, the old church built by the town sailors. Crossing streets and squares of the city the visit finishes at the Mercado de Abastos, the best place in all Pontevedra to get a taste of local gastronomy.
