Landscape of Light

All the contributions made by the Jerónimos to the Royal House since the 17th century have ended up bringing together a beautiful harmony of garden areas and historic buildings. For this reason, we will begin by giving the framework to the Landscape of Light from the Jerónimos Church, next to the Prado Museum, and we will continue the visit towards the central part of the Retiro Park. On our descent towards Paseo del Prado, we will see the beautiful Puerta de Alcalá, another 18th-century construction by the great master Francisco de Sabatini. From there, we will make a beautiful tour among the monumental fountains, designed by another of the great urban engineers, Ventura Rodríguez. And, next, we will go to the foot of the Prado Museum and the Botanical Garden, to discover that wonderful fusion of arts and sciences that encompassed this project initiated by the King Mayor, Carlos III. We will finish the tour at the foot of the Cuesta de Moyano, from where we will see the Atocha train station and the spectacular Ministry of Agriculture, one of the most outstanding buildings of late 19th century architecture in the great capital.
