On our tour we will visit the interior of the Royal Stables with a guided tour and then walk through the Jewish Quarter.
In our Tour of the Jewish Quarter of Cordoba we will take a journey into the past to get into the essence of the three cultures of Cordoba, Jewish, Arab and Christian, which for years were an example of coexistence and tolerance. The three languages of babel managed to live in harmony and respect each of the worshipped gods, and thanks to this, the impressive quarter of ‘La Judería’ has come to our days.
The Puerta de Almodóvar, one of the entrances from the Roman wall to the old city, will welcome you to this complex of narrow, winding streets. On the way, we will come face to face with the sculptures of three great representatives of each of the civilisations that found a home in Cordoba: Seneca (one of the most important Roman philosophers dedicated to morality in history), Averroes (an Arab philosopher and doctor) and Maimonides (a Jewish doctor).
Our Spanish-speaking guide will tell us the stories and legends that have been kept within this neighbourhood, such as the poems of hope and longing that the Andalusian princess Wallada wrote to her forbidden love. We will then go on to enjoy the impressive building of the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters, which dates back to the 18th century.
We will also reach the Synagogue, the oldest Jewish temple in Andalusia and declared of Cultural Interest, the only Synagogue in the whole Andalusian community, the preamble to visit the beautiful Municipal Souk where the artisans of Cordoba have been making their products for decades.
Our walking tour of the Jewish Quarter of Cordoba will end in a place like no other, a famous restaurant that still treasures its Jewish roots. What better place to taste its influence on Cordoba's gastronomy?
