To discover the Palace of La Granja de San Ildefonso is to embark on a journey to the baroque grandeur of the 18th century. Testimony of the first Spanish Bourbons, this palace complex, known as the Petit Versailles, dazzles not only for its architecture, but also for its exquisite gardens and fountains.
The activity begins with a visit to the Palace and its rooms, where you will discover the luxurious palace life and see its magnificent collection of paintings, clocks, vases, chandeliers and tapestries. On leaving the Palace you will visit the Collegiate Church where King Philip V and his wife Queen Isabella de Farnesio were buried and, in the twentieth century, the Infanta Isabella de Borbon y Borbon, affectionately known as "La Chata".
The visit continues through the gardens and fountains of the Royal Site. Its layout was designed by the French René Carlier and completed by the French René Fremin, Jean Thierry and Esteban Boutelou.
