Walk through the streets of Old Madrid among art, characters and curiosities that you would never have imagined about the Madrid metropolis in the 17th century. A tour in which you will see Madrid through the eyes of Velázquez since he settled in the court of Felipe IV until his death in 1660.
We will leave the Plaza de Oriente on the way to Madrid de los Austrias. Tour the area closest to the old Alcázar, where court figures such as King Felipe IV lived and one of the places most frequented by the painter in his daily life. From the Palacio area we will explore old streets and squares until we reach the Plaza de la Villa, where one of the most emblematic buildings of Madrid de los Austrias is located, the Casa de la Villa, the work of Juan Gómez de Mora in the second half 17th century.
We will continue touring the old streets around the Plaza de la Villa to reach the great heart of Madrid society in the times of Velázquez, the recently inaugurated Plaza Mayor, a place of representation of the entire society of the times. We will leave the great square to go to the Barrio de las Letras and walk through its most important streets talking about the artistic emergence that Madrid experienced and Spanish culture in these times.
We will pass by the houses of many of these famous people such as Lope de Vega, the Convent of Las Trinitarias and from there, we will end up in the Plaza de Platerías Martinez.
