Legends, history, music and tradition all come together on this tour where we will explore two of the most historical and authentic districts in Granada.
Discover the gypsy essence of the neighbourhood on our Sacromonte and Albayzin Tour, a walking tour led by our Spanish speaking guide which will allow you to enjoy two of the most renowned areas of the city for its history, colours and charm and declared UNESCO World Heritage sites.
Sacromonte is famous for its caves that during centuries were home to gypsies, artists and bohemians and flamenco artists. Its origins date back to the times of the Catholic Monarchs when their troops fought to conquer the city and subsequently established themselves on the lands.
Today gypsies continue to celebrate their traditional flamenco song and dance in the shape and form of the traditional Zambra where the artist reveals both soul and the deepest passion and mystery within.
As we delve deeper into the Albayzin district, we are impacted by the incredible views of the Alhambra at sunset which can be enjoyed from the viewpoint mirador de San Nicolás, a scene recognised all over the world. From this viewpoint you will have the opportunity to take in the beautiful gardens and orchards of the cármenes, traditional houses in the city which name derives from the Arabic word “karm” meaning vine.
The Sacromonte and Albayzin Tour not only includes a live flamenco show but it also allows us to delve deep into both neighbourhoods and contemplate the Mudéjar style churches, viewpoints and Arabic baths. Our tour will also take you to the Museo Cueva del Sacromonte, located in the Barranco de los Negros opposite the Alhambra.
