Join us to one of the most visited and relevant monuments in Córdoba: The Real Alcázar de Córdoba, residence of kings and seat of dark medieval institutions. Discover the Jewish Quarter of Córdoba and all its secrets on this essential tour and forget about queues and ticket purchase management. We take care of everything!
We will begin by entering the monument, going up to the towers, and explaining its strategic location and its origins, framed in the context of the old Alcázar Viejo, an area of fundamental power to understand the Andalusian administration in Córdoba and the peninsular territory during the Medieval period. We will continue towards the Mosaic Room, where we will explain the set of Roman mosaics that adorn the room, and the Women's Courtyard, where we will be able to clearly contemplate, and through the archaeological stratigraphy, the evolution that has undergone the Alcázar throughout the centuries.
We will also show you some private baths belonging to royalty, perfectly preserved archaeologically from the 14th century; and we will walk through the beautiful gardens of the Alcázar, where many curiosities await us. All this set is included in the area of the Historic Center that was listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1984.
What's more. We will enter the Judería, the old Jewish quarter from the Medieval period, an example of the historical coexistence between the Three Cultures in Córdoba. In addition, we will show you its old Synagogue, one of the oldest in Spain. We will show you the Municipal Souk, a beautiful space located in the courtyard of an old mansion where Cordovan artisans have been making their products for more than 60 years. We will visit the Chapel of San Bartolomé with the entrance included in the price.
We will also introduce you to some highly relevant historical figures from Cordoba such as Mahimonides, or Mohamad al-Gafequi; and we will enter the current Faculty of Philosophy and Letters, located in a beautiful building from the 18th century.
