We will meet at the selected time at the Puerta de Purchena, where we will begin this guided tour of the Andalusian city. Did you know that the famous Casa de las Mariposas is located at this point in the city? Why will it be called that?
We will discover the mark left by the Civil War on the streets and monuments of Almería. To do this, we will travel back in time discovering the old Arab cisterns and the exterior of the shelters from the war.
Walking through the narrow streets of the Muslim medina we will find the sculpture of King Jairán at the foot of the Alcazaba, the largest Arab citadel in Spain. Do you want to know what use the Catholic Monarchs gave to this building after the Reconquest? We will find out!
We will then go to the Almería Cathedral and the sanctuary of the Virgen del Mar, where the patron saint of the city is found. We will learn a little more about the history of these two temples from the outside.
And from religious art to the School of Arts and Crafts, which also has a Catholic origin as it was once the cloister of the convent of Santo Domingo. We will then go to the Cervantes Theater which is the focus of numerous legends. Is it true that ghosts live in this place?
Very close to there, just four minutes away, is the Doña Pakita Art Museum. We will enter it to enjoy different works of Almeria art from the 19th and 20th centuries.
To finish, we will relax in the Parque de Nicolás Salmerón, located between the port and the historic center. The guided tour of Almería will end at the mythical Cable Inglés, one of the best iron works in the city.
