Leave behind the many tourist hot spots in the Canaries and immerse yourself fully in the rocky and spectacular heart of the island. Enjoy what is the most complete experience in the Canaries.
Our Excursion Summits of Gran Canaria kicks off with a tour around Las Palmas where we will enjoy breathtaking panoramas of the city with views over the Auditorio Kraus as far across as Arucas, the craddle of Rum and the capital of the renowned Canarian banana.
Once in Arucas, alongside a Spanish speaking guide, head out to two of the most important places in this area; the neo-Gothic Church of San Juan Bautista, an impressive 20th century temple with a Medieval essence about it and the Arehucas Distillery, one of the biggest rum cellars in Europe.
Our adventure continues in the direction of Teror, a place of pilgrimage in the island. Navigate through the Teror Flea Markets and end up at the Basilica of the Lady of the Pine (Basilica de Nuestra Señora del Pino) where the squares and the corners of its romantic streets dotted along this destination take us back to post-colonial times of the city. Discover the balconies carved from local pine whilst you take in the tranquility of this town.
As we continue through the network of trails, the Aloe Vera plantations and the dense forests of pine trees and chestnut trees, we will reach one of the centres for visitors, the Cañadas del Teide, next to Parador de la Cruz de Tejada, where we will continue to head towards the lookout Mirador de la Becerra. This ravine at more than 1550 metres high, offers views of Roque Nublo, a natural crag decorated with the monoliths of Roque Bentayga and El Predicador.
Once we have reached Pico de las Nieves, the highest peak in Spain, our descent begins through the centre of Gran Canaria where we will enter the town of Ayacata and discover the almond trees which begin to flower in the summer months.
Our descent leads us to “Tunte” the capital of the municipality of San Bartolomé de Tirajana. This locality features a caldera of 10 km where we will stop for a break and a coffee. Inside the caldera enjoy views of the magnificent mountains that make the Canaries unique in the world.
During the tour admire the amazing vegetation in full bloom in the island´s volcanic climate. In the small village of Fataga, another of our stops on this tour, discover the One Thousand Palms Valley where the Bohemian essence makes way for a fertile ravine in the city.
The “Degollada de la Yegua” lookout is one of our final stops on this tour and ends at the well-known Playa del Inglés beach.
