Royal of Riofrio and La Granja de San Ildefonso

To explore the Palaces of Riofrio and the Royal Site of La Granja de San Ildefonso is to enter a world of royal splendor and cultural heritage.

Starting with the Palace of Riofrio, located in a privileged natural environment near Segovia, you will find an architectural jewel of Neoclassical style. Built in the 18th century, this palace captivates with its sober elegance and imposing presence among the forests at the foot of the Sierra de Guadarrama. As you walk through its halls and galleries, you will discover a rich collection of art and period furnishings, evoking the opulence of the Spanish monarchy.

Continuing the journey to the Royal Site of La Granja de San Ildefonso, you will be immersed in a universe of baroque grandeur known as the "Petit Versailles". This palace complex, built in the 18th century, is a testimony to the magnificence of the Spanish monarchy of the time as seen in its rooms and in the collection of paintings, clocks, vases, chandeliers and tapestries. On leaving the Palace you will visit the Collegiate Church where King Philip V and his wife Queen Isabella de Farnesio were buried and, in the twentieth century, the Infanta Isabella de Borbon y Borbon, affectionately known as "La Chata". 

The exquisite gardens of the Royal Palace of La Granja de San Ildefonso are another highlight of the visit, designed by the French architect Rene Carlier, its paths will transport you to a world of magic.
