Explore the intricacies of the phenomenon called La Movida Madrileña, the Cultural Revolution of the 80s, and what role the neighborhoods of the capital, Chueca and Malasaña, play in it. Don't miss out!
Our meeting point will be the Plaza de la Luna, located next to the door of the San Martín de Tours Church. From there, we will stroll towards the Malasaña neighborhood, still an icon of the Movida Madrileña and the urban tribes of the time. Even today, we can find some places that were the musical temples of the time, such as the Sala Maravilla, El Penta, or El Tupperware. We will reach the heart of Malasaña, the Plaza del Dos de Mayo, but first, we will show you some small wonders of Madrid, such as the church of San Antonio de Los Alemanes, the Lara Theater, and the Alfil Theater. We will continue our journey towards the Plaza de Chueca. If Malasaña was the epicenter of the Movida, Chueca is the epicenter of the LGBT movement. This neighborhood has become one of the most popular areas of Madrid, with a high level of activity between shops, bars, and cultural offerings. Its square is always full of neighbors and tourists who like to enjoy its terraces. Chueca is undoubtedly a trendy neighborhood. We will complete our route by contemplating the House of the Seven Chimneys, which has been shrouded in an old legend since the 16th century. Do you want us to tell you about it?
