We had a fantastic time on the Discover Madrid: From Medieval to Modern tour. Marik was an amazing guide; enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and full of great energy. His storytelling made the history of Madrid come alive, and the 2.5 hours flew by. What really impressed us was how considerate he was. As Muslims, we hesitated a bit when we got to the bar to try the famous Madroño drink, and he immediately offered a non-alcoholic option without making a big deal. It was such a thoughtful gesture. Highly recommend this tour and especially Marik.

Malik our guide is completely enthusiatsic about the history of this area and has profound knowledge of many aspects including numbers, architecture, culinary details, political overview and intrigues, and lightens up the tour with unusual stories. To follow this tour you must be willing to listen a lot and be quite fluent in English as he is a native English speaker and tries to pack as much information as he can into much too little time. You must also be aware that this tour will take paths through the city that are not used by most other guides and that does not cover most of the 'must sees'. If you, however, share a passion for the diverse cultures that shaped this amazing city and are interested in both the political and archictectural aspect of it, including the love of small details, you will enjoy following Malik. Plan a lot of time! This tour includes breaks. Ours took over 3 hours because the group was so interested in what our guide had to say.

His tour is intentionally different to the standard tourist offerings, meaning you get an authentic taste of the true Madrid rather than following the crowds. I’ve been to Madrid several times and I’ve walked several tours, but this one stood out to me not only because of how engaging Marik was or how well put together the tour was, but because we were able to explore several aspects of Madrid’s history that don’t often get mentioned in other tours (ex. Arab influence and origins). The two and a half hours absolutely flew by. Highly recommend!

Marik is extremely passionate and knowledgeable about Madrid and his humorous and lively delivery draws in even the most resistant who think they don’t care too much about history! He has great stories and as we’ve taken a similar walking tour in Madrid before, I can tell you his points of interest were quite different to what we experienced prior and it was great! He keeps you moving and has fascinating tales about the City that make it all come alive for you. He has one or two planned stops for refreshments and bathroom breaks which is wonderful for a two and a half hour tour. We can wholeheartedly recommend him to anyone in Madrid and even if you have been on a walking tour there before, go strolling with him - you’ll learn so much more, gain a better appreciation of where you are and have just a great experience, it’s 100% time well spent! “Best tour yet”
I've been taking free tours in many European cities and this one ranks at the top.
Our guide was not only quite knowledgeable about a variety of subjects but he communicated his ideas with a freshness and vitality that is often lacking in guides who often are simply following a script.
He also interacted with the group, which allowed for dialogue and made the time go by very quickly.

Clear in his explanation and well known about the subject. Great attitude and personality. His English was fluent and very easy to understand because in previous experiences with other guides, their pronunciation was very bad, today Malik was excellent.

“Eine spannende Tour durch Madrid”
Marik war ein großartiger Guide. Er hat die Tour spannend und unterhaltsam gestaltet und konnte durch sein fundiertes Wissen rundherum alle Fragen beantworten. Obwohl wir nur eine sehr kleine Gruppe waren, hat er sich viel Zeit genommen, wirkte nicht gehetzt und hat auf halbem Weg sogar eine kleine Pause eingeplant.
Für alle Geschichtsinteressierten kann ich die Tour wärmstens empfehlen!

“Great tour”
I have been on many free walking tours, and Marik’s was one of the very best. He is very knowledgeable, a great communicator, friendly and enthusiastic. The tour combined popular tourist sites with less well known ones, and even included a taste of a local drink. Thoroughly recommend.
