Las Palmas de GC is a city with two historical centers, dating from the XV and XVI centuries, with beautiful colonial and modernist corners, full of anecdotes of great figures of culture and the street.
Vegueta, declared a National Historic-Artistic Site in 1973, was the first Castilian settlement in the Atlantic, where the Crown of Castile began the conquest of the Canary Islands in the fifteenth century, the result of the efforts of the Catholic Monarchs to have a large city strategically located outside the mainland.
Walking around, we will be delighted with places with a lot of charm. We will admire the facades of the Museum of Columbus, the Plaza de Pilar Nuevo, the Holy Spirit and with stories of conquerors and pirates we arrive at the Plaza de Santa Ana, a fundamental framework of the city at the political and social level in the late fifteenth century. We go to Triana, 16th century, where we will discover squares and part of the life of illustrious people such as Pérez Galdós and the theater that bears his name.
We will finish in the Vegueta Market, an ideal place for some wines and typical tapas, among the local people. I can advise you on everything you need to enjoy your stay in our city, let's go!
