Things to do Free Tour of Hidden Gems of Cordoba
The tour starts at the Statue of Averroes, the great Cordovan philosopher, with an introduction to the history of Córdoba. We will continue the walk along the Medieval Wall, talking about the most important details of this monument. We will continue the tour through the Jewish Quarter, the Almodovar Gate, the historical souk, Calleja de la Hoguera, Calleja del Pañuelo, Plaza del Museo Arqueológico, Plaza del Potro until we reach the Plaza de la Corredera, where our tour will end. During the morning tour, we can also visit the Abastos market. Let yourself be guided by an expert historian through the historic center of the city, visiting some of its most emblematic places!

It is a pity that there are just five stars to rate this tour and the guide José because they would deserve at least ten. Awesome guide, very knowledgeable and passionate on his job. Great hidden places that are as interesting as the more popular ones. This tour combines not only history but tips on food and local places. Highly recommended experience to know the city.

“Great tour with Jesus”
Really enjoyed our tour. It was called hidden gems, and they were. We went back to many of the places he took us to. The synagogue, the university courtyard, we found the garden patios. He gave us lots of history and information about the city and it was easy to retrace his steps and find places again. Highly recommended.

Jose knows the place very well. The cherry on the cake: Besides doing a good job at what one expects from a local guide, he makes it a point to relate Spain's current cuisine to the country's history. Very original. At each location, he introduces a dish linked to the place. Unfortunately, I failed to taste all of them. He also recommends places to eat and, thus, I ate bocadillos in a place far from any tourist trap.

“Rainy evening but still worth it!”
Small group looking into some hidden corners. We have visited Cordoba before and did another tour earlier in the day but we still saw plenty that was interesting and new to us. We started at 1730 so some of the tour was in the dark but this did not detract from the enjoyability. We also had light rain but it still felt quite warm so no problem.
Our guide was lovely, knowledgeable and helped us understand a little more of this gorgeous city.

“Nice atmosphere and good tips”
We started in small group of just 4 people, but our guide didn't have a problem with it, which is nice :). He knew the city quite well and had a calm energy while explaining and leading a group. Compared to my other guide on free tour in Granada, I missed more questions or fun energy from him, but it didn't effect my experience a lot :). Although I would recommend him to work more on his english pronouciation, because sometimes I was a bit confused when I heard about ,,christian charge", when it was a ,,church" :D. He made up for this with his visual materials and recommendations about local food and working website of best restaurants in area connected to Google Maps. That's really helpful :)
Overall my tour was possitive and I became much more familiar with streets of Cordoba :)

Jose is a fantastic tour guide - he relates the history of Cordoba in a very interesting and passionate manner. Jose is very knowledgeable and even has a university degree in history???? We were taken to many hidden gems with fascinating stories. Jose showed us many photos that helped explain the history and also photos of traditional foods with detailed explanations.. Even though we had already taken several other walking tours in Cordoba, Jose brought us to many new interesting places. “Very well composed, engaging tour”
Our guide today, José, obviously has a very profound knowledge of Cordoba and its amazing history. He has honed this knowledge so to keep participants engaged and he has interspersed his story with references to the history of food and recipes of the peoples that lived and live in Cordoba, even back to the Romans. I found my self interested from start to the inevitable end of the tour. He had a good pace, his English was excellent (with a charming Spanish accent that kept me engaged too), he was relaxed and did very well with keeping us ducks in a row. Would highly recommend.

“Useful and interesting”
José took us through less crowded places and told us a lot about the history of Cordoba. He knows a lot about the foundation of local meals and in the end shared his tips on local restaurants and bars. Sometimes there were more historic details than we'd expect. Due to his spanish accent you'd need to focus well from time to time to understand.

We enjoyed the tour, got to see some real hidden gems what otherwise we would not have spotted. Jose led us through history by these hidden places, monuments. This tour is not about the biggest monuments what you will anyway visit during your holiday but about other places you might not know without him.

“Hidden gems tour Cordoba”
My husband and I were the only ones booked in for this free tour. We were very pleased that it went ahead anyway( with other companies we have had free tours cancelled at the last minute due to low numbers).
Jose was an excellent guide. We saw many interesting places and learned lost of things about the old town of Cordoba.
At the end of the tour we were given a list of restaurants to try. We tried 3 of them and the food was delicious.
Jose messaged us afterwards about further things we had asked him that he was unsure about related to a flamenco show and a music venue. He was extremely helpful.

“Fountain of Knowledge ”
This morning we were lucky to have Jose as our personal guide as there obviously weren’t many English tourists around this weekend. He has an amazing knowledge of Spanish history, particularly Andalusian and especially Cordoban and the way he integrated food into his tour was fascinating. We learned a lot. Our tour guide Jose was a History graduate from the University of Cordoba and certainly had the knowledge to pass on to us.

“Gourmet and City tour ”
Jose arrived only 5 minutes before the start of the walk but quickly made up for it.
He was well informed, well prepared and gave us all an excellent introduction to Cordoba.

“Perfect Tour”
Thank you, José, for your great tour through Córdoba! Your English is close to perfect, your knowledge about history in general and about Andalucía and Córdoba profound and you're also a very nice person. I enjoyed the 2 hours so much and I understand the background and the history so much better. The way you showed us many spots in the town and combined it with background knowledge as well as typical food and how it is cooked, was a perfect combination. I would have missed a highlight if I hadn't done the tour. I wish you all the best for your future!

“Fabulous tour”
We had a fab tour for nine of us (age 10-75) and learned lots of new facts and quirky bits of history. Jose was lovely, well informed and very accommodating. Would do it all over in a heartbeat!

The tour was great! José did really good job. The information about the history of the city and the tradional food was well structured and explained very interestingly. Jose is a very good guide. He explained us rhe most important facts about the history of Cordoba in a simple manner and doing so, we could appreciate the different sights we visited. We learned also about the cordoban gastronomy and after the visit, with the list of good places to eat he gave us, we could enjoy it. We recommend this tour!

“Walking tour around the main sights with a gastronomic twist”
I felt I had to write something, because this tour was definitely more than I had expected. Jose was a wonderful guide, answering all my specifying questions about whether about the sights or the gastronomic details he added. I wish I had taken this tour on the first day I arrived to Cordoba - I would have been way way more knowledgeable and cognisant of my food choices around Cordoba, understanding also the history behind the idiosyncratic dishes of Cordoba. One hint: when in Cordoba, and you’re a foodie, you must also take time to visit their main market which was a bit outside the usual Old Town - this was where Jose finished his tour and I ended up buying way too much different produce there, more than I could fit in my backpack ????
Anyhow, I cannot recommend this tour enough. If there was something to improve, then I would recommend asking an actual price and organising real tasting pauses along the way - seeing Jose showing us all of the dishes on picture got me very hungry and I believe this addition would be a big hit ???? (Maybe there already were these types of tours; I didn’t find them immediately.)
