Join us and discover the majestic Alcázar de los Reyes Cristianos! Walk through its gardens, history, and secrets, where Columbus met with the Catholic Monarchs. The jewel of Cordoba was declared a World Heritage Site.
A visit to the Jewish quarter is offered as a gift. During the visit we will see the first archaeological remains that correspond to a late-antique castellum, which was later replaced by the Alcazar of the Umayyads and finally by an Almohad citadel. After the Christian conquest, the Castilians reused part of this Almohad citadel as its main access, the crossing courtyard and the baths, although it seems that the new reforms were completed in 1328 during the reign of Alfonso XI. Isabella the Catholic gave birth in the Alcazar on June 29, 1482 to the future queen of Portugal, Maria of Aragon. The gardens deteriorated because Isabel ordered to stop the waterwheel of the Albolafia, which irrigated them, since the noise did not let her rest. In the tower of Homage of the complex, Christopher Columbus requested funds for his maritime expedition in the year 1486.
