Guided tour to the city of Baeza which is widely considered to be the “Salamanca of Andaluz”. Get teleported to the period of Renaissance with its unmatched layout and charming golden facades.
Baeza is the exponent of public architecture and religious power. Gothic and Renaissance go hand in hand in this city marked by its splendor, such as the Plaza de Santa María, the site of the first Andalusian cathedral, consecrated in 1227 (entrance -€7- included in the price) The Conciliar Seminary of San Felipe Neri, the source of Santa María and the High Town Hall; the Palace of Jabalquinto, of luxurious flamboyant Gothic style; and the church of Santa Cruz, the testimony of the Andalusian Romanesque. We will also visit the Old University, where Antonio Machado taught for seven years, which preserves the poet's classroom and his noble Paraninfo; and the Plaza del Pópulo, with the fountain of the Lions, the Old Butchers, the Public Notaries, and Civil Court, the Puerta de Jaén and the Arco de Villalar. You will also get to know the Paseo de la Constitución, with the Torre de Los Aliatares, the Alhóndiga, and the Balcón del Consejo, as well as the Old and New Pósitos in the Barbacana. Between cobbled alleys and golden facades, you can immerse yourself in a living open-air museum, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2003, next to the neighboring city of Úbeda.
