Ayamonte Free Tour

We will meet at the Ayamonte tourist office at 10:30 am. There we will start this free tour through the historic centre of the Andalusian city to know its main corners and discover its historical importance.

We will make the first stop of the day in Plaza España. A few steps from the Guadiana river, we will talk about the title of Very noble and loyal city that Ayamonte has held since the 17th century. Who gave it to you and why?

Strolling through narrow streets and charming houses we will enter the Ribera neighbourhood. We will stop at the cultural centre, located in the Casa Grande de Ayamonte. We will enter the building to contemplate its central patio surrounded by arches and marble columns. You are sure to love it!

We will continue with the tour of the city through its commercial area until we reach the Plaza de la Ribera, one of the most emblematic places in Ayamonte. Do not forget to take a photo on the banks of this square. They will attract your attention to their curious decoration with coloured tiles.

Afterwards, we will go to the church of Nuestra Señora de las Angustias, the main temple of the city. What stories will unite the patron saint of Ayamonte with the Portuguese? We will find out!

After visiting the temple, we will head towards Plaza de la Laguna, the seat of the town hall. After some photos, we will walk to the dock of Portugal, where you will have a perfect panoramic image of the neighbouring country and the Guadiana river. The free tour will end at this point at 12:30 pm.
