Previously it was a Roman fort and the current building definitely has Berber origins, from the year 760. During the Middle Ages it was subjected to different reforms and reconstructions. Between 1901 and 1936 it was restored by its owner, Rafael Desmaissieres y Farina, 12th Count of Torralva, under the technical direction of the architect Adolfo Fernández Casanova. The most important towers are the Square, the Round and the Homage.
