Santa Cruz & Jewish Quarter (Juderia) Tour

On this tour we will visit the Santa Cruz neighborhood, delimited in the south by the Murillo Gardens and by the 12th century Arab wall that will embrace us as we walk through Agua and Vida streets joined with the Patio de Banderas. We will also know curiosities of the three synagogues that appear at the time and where we can currently find the Church of Santa María la Blanca, the Church of San Bartolomé and the Plaza de Santa Cruz to find ourselves fully immersed in the Jewish quarter, where we will know their history and appreciate the beauty of a place that seems frozen in time for centuries.

These little streets that the Santa Cruz neighborhood hides have been the model and inspiration of many authors such as Luis Cernuda (a poet belonging to the generation of 27), the American writer Washington Irving or works such as Fígaro, the barber of Seville. But there are also tragic stories like the well-known legend of Susona.

What is the origin of Calle Agua and Calle Vida? Why are they called like that? Who was Susona? What happened in the spring of 1391? How was the Inquisition in Seville?
