Tour Aquisgrana

The area of ​​"La Aquisgrana" is framed in the region of the northern countryside of Jaén in the municipality of La Carolina (Jaén). It is located next to the Campana River, being surrounded by masses of well-preserved Mediterranean vegetation and redoubts of its old mining activity This activity aims to discover its natural, cultural, historical and ethnographic heritage, becoming aware of the origin and abandonment of its great industrial activity. The activity will begin with the reception of the participants and transfer to the Paraje de la Aquisgrana, with two collection points, Jaén capital and La Carolina. We will begin with an easy route at sunset, approximately 7 km to the town of Sinapismo, where we will show the natural values ​​of the territory, affecting its flora and geology, thus understanding the origin of mining in the area since Roman times. We will visit the ethnographic heritage linked to the mining landscapes: unfinished bridges of the railway, tunnels, rafters and washhouses, ending with the visit and interpretation of the way of life in one of the mining towns that exist in the municipality: Sinapismo. After resting for a while and regaining strength, we will begin the return, enjoying the celestial vault in one of the viewpoints and conducting an initiation workshop to observe the night sky. We will learn to orient ourselves with the stars and discover legends of some of the constellations in our night sky. Finally, we will visit the Aquisgrana mining interpretation classroom where, through an experiential experience, we will know what the interior of the mine was like and how it was worked. Meeting point: 17:30 in the capital Jaén (Glorieta de Blas Infante) and 18:15 in La Carolina (next to the local cemetery).
