Things to do Free Walking Tour around Plasencia

did you know that Plasencia was a strategic point during the Reconquest? King Alfonso VIII of Castile decided that its location was optimal to control the Muslim enemies. We will start the tour at the Fuente del Cabildo, whose most important building is the Cathedral. Plasencia has 2 cathedrals: we will admire the exterior of the New and the Old Cathedrals, learning their particularities. Afterwards, we will walk through the streets and stop in front of the Palacio de los Monroy, also called Casa de las Dos Torres. This is one of the oldest stately buildings in Plasencia, built in the 14th century, and which housed illustrious characters such as Maria de Monroy la Brava and King Ferdinand the Catholic. We will continue touring the walled city while admiring the Plaza de San Nicolas and the Palace of the Marquis of Mirabel. We will continue exploring the old town of Plasencia, declared BIC, discovering the stories of its most emblematic buildings. In one of them Juana la Beltraneja was proclaimed as the legitimate heir of Castile. Finally, we will approach the Plaza Mayor, where we will admire the Palacio Consistorial, seat of the City Hall, and its clock in the Torre Mayor.
