Things to do Peralada Free Tour: From the Republic to the Dictatorship

A project to preserve historical memory is underway in Peralada, spearheaded by the Institute of Empordà Studies, with the support of the Peralada City Council, the Democratic Memorial, and the Museum of Exile. Given the success of the historical tours held during Holy Week, new tours have been scheduled for this summer to continue sharing the project’s findings and, at the same time, raise funds for the project. We will take a tour primarily through the historic center of Peralada, during which we will (re)discover key sites, events, and figures. We will visit sites that are not usually open to the public. Therefore, part of the tour will take place indoors, and we will adapt to weather conditions. During the tour, we’ll use a variety of previously unpublished resources—such as documents, photographs, newspaper clippings, and period artifacts—to accompany the explanations. The tour will last approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes and will be led by Jordi, a Peralada historian and project coordinator. Each tour will be unique thanks to the contributions of all participants. That’s why we encourage you to join in!
