Sagunto is a city of Edetan origin (ARSE from the V century BC) of alternation and coexistence of Iberians, Romans, Visigoths and Arabs, living with Jews and Christians. During Roman times it took the name of Saguntum and during the Arab occupation it was known as Morvedre or Murviedro. Since the 19th century the name Sagunto (Sagunt in Valencian) has been used until the present day. Place of beginning in 218 BC of the Second Punic War between the Carthaginians under the command of Hannibal and the Iberian population allied with Rome. Its beautiful theater and its spectacular and important castle do not leave indifferent any visitor with magnificent views in the tower of Hercules.
