In this tour of O Grove, we will discover its seafaring roots and emblematic buildings. In front of the Town Hall, we will unveil the legends of its coat of arms and the history of this municipality on the Arosa estuary, a unique journey into the Galician past!
We will meet at the indicated time in the square of O Corgo, where we will start this free tour of El Grove, one of the ports of entry to the Arosa estuary. We start walking through the streets of O Grove, we will find typical seafaring houses, such as the Casa de Patín, and historic buildings such as the old hospital, the chapel of San Antón or the first cannery of the municipality. Next, we will move to the fishing district of Peralto, where we will see the particular structure of its streets leading down to the port. Following this route we will arrive at the beach of Confín, where we will know the seafood activity of El Grove and we will observe the bridge that leads to the island of La Toja. We will explain from this point the peculiarities of this island, one of the most popular thermal centers in Galicia, and hear some enigmatic stories about it. Afterwards, we will go to the port to see the statue of the Mariscadores and the fish market, one of the most important points for the fishing trade of the town. Finally, we will return to the starting point, where we will say goodbye after about an hour and a half.
