Things to do The Historic Center of Jerez: A Walk From the Alcazar to the Cathedral
The Alcazar of Jerez is a place of great interest. And I do not say this because I have worked here as a guide, but because it is the most visited monument in the city. From the Almohad period (XII-XIII centuries), inside we can admire the only mosque that is currently preserved in the city, some Arab baths, mills, towers and even a palace of the XVII-XIX centuries. Before going to the cathedral, a walk around the Alcazar will make us meet and discover some of the most outstanding elements of the historic center of Jerez: the church of San Miguel, the Plaza del Arenal, the Calle Larga, the palaces of the Plaza Rivero.... Each of these places hides a little piece of the history of the city, Andalusia and Spain without having to go far away. Finally, we will arrive at the Cathedral of Jerez, a superb building with outstanding artistic elements both outside and inside. During the visit, I will accompany you through the Alcazar and the most relevant parts of the center of Jerez, discovering together the history of the city through its monuments, streets and squares.

Venimos de Badajoz a hacer una visita por Jerez y descubrir la ciudad y Alejandro resultó ser una gran elección.Recomiendo que acepten su recomendación de incluir en el tour la visita guiada del interior del Alcázar, pues el ticket es muy barato y realmente merece la pena,por sus explicaciones y por el lugar.Desde allí,seguimos viendo el resto del casco histórico y nadie podría haberlo explicado mejor.Lo recomendaría a cualquiera que visitará la ciudad.Y si buscas una visita más personal alejado de los grandes grupos, más todavía

Hemos hecho esta mañana una visita por Jerez con Alejandro y no pudo ir mejor.Empezamos con una visita guiada por el interior del Alcázar de la ciudad y después por mas zonas más importantes del casco histórico. Toda la visita se hizo muy amena y entretenida,siendo Alejandro muy buen comunicador.Aprovechen que no solo es guía, también es historiador, y está siempre dispuesto a resolver cualquier duda.Se ofreció incluso a enseñarnos San Miguel y la Catedral por dentro, pero no teníamos tiempo.Ademas nos dio buenas recomendaciones sobre lugares de interés, restaurantes... Muy recomendable

On a beautiful sunny day, we were guided by Alejandro to the main historical sites of Jerez. He pointed out the importance of the Sherry trade, the wealth it created, and its eventual decline. We asked questions about modern Spain today and he was very informative. Overall a 5 star guide tour, highly recommended. Alejandro also recommended a restaurant called Jaleo, which was excellent . My wife and I had one of the best meals, it was a stew of chickpeas and shrimp with homemade bread.

Most sincerely recommend this tour with Alejandro! We booked last minute and, being a Monday, we were the only two participants, still Alejandro confirmed the tour and did it in the best possible way, without skipping any part. His English is very good, he is very knowledgeable and very much involved in the topic of the history of Jerez de la frontera. He was prepared to answer all the questions and gave us good recommendations where to go for tapas, vino and flamenco. We spent very pleasant two hours with this intelligent and kind person. “Informative and enjoyable stroll through Jerez de la Frontera ”
Myself and three friends did the guided tour of Jerez de la Frontera with Alejandro on a recent day visit there. Alejandro was a terrific guide and spoke very good English. We spent the first hour at the Alcázar and gained a huge insight into that complex. Alejandro brought it all to life. We then spent the second hour strolling through the town where Alejandro brought us to the main squares, pointed out the landmark buildings, took us to the two cathedrals and explained everything relating to each of these building and spaces. Alejandro was able to adjust the pace of the tour as we were a group of varying ages and abilities. Alejandro was also able to give restaurant and shopping recommendations. Would recommend you do this tour at the start of your visit to Jerez as it provides a great orientation to the town. Thanks Alejandro!

el Alcázar al ofrecernos un concentrado, pero profundo, resumen de las etapas en el tiempo de Jeréz de la Frontera, la exposición de Alejandro, sobre la catedral de San Miguel, muy ilustrativa invitando a conocerla más a fondo y el cierre en la Catedral central, después de recorrer plazas icónicas de la ciudad, te deja muy emocionado para continuar descubriendo la ciudad.

My daughter and I spent a lovely morning walking round Jerez. Alexander was so knowledgeable and brought the history alive in each if the sites we visited. He clearly loves meeting and sharing his passion for history with others. We can thoroughly recommend this trip.

“If you have time for only one tour in Jerez, make sure it's this”
Alejandro was not only knowledgeable, but also incredibly passionate about the history of Jerez, and it shows in the way conducts his tours. He was also able to answer every random question we had, whether it was about architectural styles in and around Jerez, the historical politics of Spain, or just regional rivalries between Jerez and its neighbouring cities. It also helped that he was flexible and friendly. Definitely made our day walking around the city with him!

Nos llevó a recorrer el Alcázar y los principales monumentos, contándonos la historia de Jerez de una manera cercana, divertida y muy amena. Logra que cada rincón cobre vida con sus relatos y anécdotas, y consigue que uno se lleve no solo datos históricos, sino también recuerdos memorables. Sin duda, una visita imprescindible para conocer Jerez desde dentro y disfrutar de la ciudad con alguien que la ama y la transmite con entusiasmo. ¡Totalmente recomendable!

We love to do the free walking tours in every city we go to, so that we get an understanding of the history of the place.
The tour with Alejandro was fantastic.
He taught us a lot about the history of Jerez and the Alcazar in particular.
He is passionate about his city and very knowledgeable about Spain in general.
He was able to answer all of our random questions about life here and where to eat and drink as well.

De excelente se puede calificar la visita guiada que realize al Alcázar y a la iglesia de San Miguel de la mano del guía Alejandro.Se nota la gran pasión que tiene por su trabajo así como sus amplios conocimientos del patrimonio histórico de Jerez.Las más de 2 horas de duración de la visita se me pasaron volando.Desde luego recomiendo está experiencia a todo el mundo y por último quiero felicitar a Alejandro por su gran profesionalidad.

He seamlessly accommodated us in English and another family in Spanish, switching between the two languages with ease so that everyone felt included. The tour through the Alcázar and the historic centre was engaging and full of interesting details that brought the city’s past to life. “Visita espectacular ”
Me ha encantado la visita por Jerez!! Alejandro ha sido en todo momento muy profesional y a la vez cercano. Tiene una forma de explicar que engancha y no te despistas, haciendo comparaciones entre el pasado y el presente de cada zona y comentando las particularidades muy interesantes del Alcázar que te transporta en el tiempo. “Nice tour in and around Alcazar ”
Nice tour in and around Alcazar & cathedral. Very easy with booking and meeting. Alejandro was super nice and explained a lot about the history and answered all my questions. I was the only one but he still took the time to do the tour instead of canceling. In my opinion he could have gone more into the overall history of Andalusia but other than that 5/5! Thank you!
