Come with me on an adventure through this medieval city. We’ll be starting the walking tour by the Cathedral. We’ll explore its medieval streets, meet some of its most famous characters, and end at the heart of the modern city. Don't miss it!
Oviedo is a city shaped by kings, pilgrims, merchants, and traditions. On this Oviedo walking tour, we’ll journey through its medieval past while discovering how it evolved into the vibrant modern capital of Asturias. We’ll start the tour in the very heart of the city, by Oviedo Cathedral, next to the statue of Alfonso II, one of the city’s most important historical figures. From here, we’ll step into the medieval old town, walking through its narrow streets while uncovering its past—and how they’re used today. Along the way, we’ll meet some fascinating characters from Oviedo’s history and explore the city’s importance as a market and trading center. The tour then takes us into the 19th-century expansion of the city, home to Oviedo’s main shopping streets and elegant urban spaces. We’ll finish at a basilica that may look unassuming at first glance—but one that hides more than a few secrets, the perfect final surprise to end the tour. The duration of the tour is around 2 to 2:30 hours in total. I recommend wearing comfortable clothing.
