Things to do Free Tour of Punta Umbria

The visit begins in the Plaza 26 April 1963, a key date for Punta Umbria. From the fishing port, we will begin a tour of the history, culture, and landscapes of a town known for having more fishermen per inhabitant than any other in Spain. In the port, we will learn about traditional fishing and the fish market, where fish is auctioned every day, as well as admire the views of the Marismas del Odiel Natural Park, a protected area that hosts hundreds of waterfowl. We will continue along Ancha Street, the main artery of the town, to the Ethnographic Museum of Pepe Morales, with curiosities about the Second World War. Then we will visit the marina and the Plaza Perez Pastor, one of the oldest in the old town. We will continue to the Almenara Tower, from the 16th century, built to protect against pirates, next to the Church of Lourdes, a symbol of the growth of the town. The visit ends at the house of the guardian of the Riotinto Company, where we will learn how Punta Umbria became a tourist destination in the late nineteenth century thanks to the British and Germans.
