Discover the flora and fauna of Font Roja Natural Park on a guided tour led by a biologist! See real specimens and learn fascinating secrets about botany, zoology, and evolution in the heart of nature.
Join me on a free nature and science outreach tour of the Font Roja Natural Park, led by a biology graduate. We’ll take the easy, circular Barranc de l’Infern trail—about 4.7 km long—which begins and ends at the Font Roja Sanctuary. The activity will begin next to the interpretation center, where I’ll introduce the park’s wildlife and ecosystems and show you various specimens from my biological collection to explain their functions, interesting facts, and the scientific context behind them. During the hike, we’ll pass through holm oak forests, pine groves, and the wetland area of the Barranc de l’Infern. We’ll try to spot insects, birds, fungi, and wild plants, learning to identify them and understand their role in the ecosystem. We’ll pay special attention to birdsong, and if we’re lucky, we might spot vultures in flight or see Barbary sheep on the nearby rocky outcrops. This tour is designed for anyone with a curiosity about nature. My goal is not only to show you the species of Font Roja, but also to help you understand why they are the way they are: their adaptations, behaviors, and history.
