Things to do Kraków Plaszów Camp and the True Story of Schindler
“Memory is the only victory time has allowed us.”
Why is this story worth discovering?
• KL Płaszów: We’ll walk through the former concentration camp grounds, where only symbolic traces remain today – a monument, road fragments, and ruins. I will talk about the prisoners’ daily lives, the role of commandant Amon Göth, and the paradox of Schindler’s factory becoming a place of survival.
• In Schindler’s Footsteps: We’ll visit locations from Spielberg’s film, but most importantly, places of real events, from the Grey House (SS offices and Göth’s bureau) to the quarry (Schindler’s List film set).
• People, not numbers: You’ll hear stories of real individuals, victims (like Roma Ligocka) and those who risked their lives to help (like Mietek Pemper, co-author of the list).
Selected sites we’ll visit:
– Grey House
– Commandant’s Office
– SS Barracks
– Funeral Hall
– Jewish Cemeteries
– Jewish Prisoners’ Barracks
– Execution Site
– Industrial Area
– Quarry
– Commandant’s Villa

“Ritorno al passato”
Un paio di ore piacevoli alla scoperta dell' ex campo di concentramento in Cracovia.
La guida molto preparata e disponibile a rispondere ad eventuali dubbi o curiosità.
Anche se sono poche le rovine rimaste, rimane comunque un percorso toccante.

“Understand the bigger picture through tiny details ”
The camp grounds Tomasz will take you through is just one part of World War II.
What's remarkable is that our guide Tomasz is writing a book on World War II so while he shows you the spots, you can ask him about World War II, and he can give you a timeline of the war and where the camp ground fits in the war.
I've read lots about World War II before going to Krakow, but I think putting the timelines together (e.g. battle in Stalingrad, invasion of Russia) and seeing where the camps fit in the grand scheme was one of my biggest take aways.
It will better help you understand the timing at which they dismantled the camps, transported the surviving Jews etc and it makes you realize how cold and calculated the genocide was, and why the Holocaust needs to be remembered as one of the most atrocious crimes in history.
This isn't just killing or murdering, it's extermination.

This was the most wonderful tour! I highly recommend it! The guide, Tomasz, is very responsible and kind person. The tour is well-structured and enthusiastic. Despite the snowfall, the cold, and the fact that I came alone, he dedicated all his efforts, answered to all my additional questions without any rushing! I am really very grateful to him! Come on this tour, friends, and learn history!
