Touring the Abasto area with Joachin was a fabulous experience. He was so knowledgeable and passionate about this area that you couldn't help join in with his enthusiasm. It was a very different topic from all the other tours we've been on and thoroughly enjoyed it. We appreciated his recommendation of a local cafe at the end of the tour where we enjoyed drinks and food with the locals.

“Joaquin: A vivid story telling ”
The guy is so passionate about how roots of tango are connected to his neighbourhood that at the end of the tour we believed as we had just been in a movie, about Abasco 1893-1935. The protagonist was Carlos Cardel, who elevated the Tango from underground enjoyment to pride of developed society of Buenos Aires. A lot of other names related to this art as well and their life stories., Accompanied by how the biggest mercado of Argentina was born as an idea from two very successful immigrants Italian brothers, caught up by the little business owners of the then booming Argentina, to three talented 25 years olds that came up with the winning idea how to transform the neighborhood, open doors to investment, make the whole area so vivid through development, that bars, restaurants and night life was all but logical follow up. Hearing Joaquin, we were walking on the same streets and seeing the personages of Abasco's at those years through wall plates, museum houses, still original buildings and more. Worthy experience.
We appreciated so much the experience. Definitely will highly recommend anyone to join Joaquin's tour.

“Continuing the history of Abastos”
My friend referred me to this tour by Joaquin and I was lucky to have the tour 1-on-1. Joaquin not only gave me an informative guide to the local history, and Abastos’s significance, but he very knowledgably answered my questions about Carlos Gardel. What I really like about Joaquin’s tour is his passion for the place and Gardel, and the ways this tour encouraged my imagination of the past and the future.

“Excellent and enthusiastic guide through the roots of Abasto and”
Joaquin is ADORABLE! He captivated us with stories of the sacrifices and vision of the founders and workers of Abasto. He also inspired us with his enthusiasm for learning more about the life of Carlos Gardel. We went straight home to watch the films he recommended about Argentine wine and to listen to his tangos.

From the very start, it was clear that Joaquín had deeply studied and researched the history of Abasto. His tour took us on a fascinating journey, detailing the buildings, culture, and life around the Mercado de Abasto since its foundation in 1886. He didn’t just provide facts—he told a compelling story, weaving together the lives of Abasto’s past and present residents.
Born and raised in the neighborhood, Joaquín’s passion and pride for Abasto were evident. “amazing and very informative tour”
Joaquin is a very good guide with plenty of insight knowledge. I really enjoyed the tour with him. I find it very remarkable that the tour with him lasted over 2 hours, although I happened to be the only participant today. Very recommendable, I would always repeat a tour with Joaquin!

Im Vorfeld gab es schon eine sehr gute Kommunikation über WhatsApp. Joaquin hat uns mit viel Leidenschaft durch seinen Kiez geführt. Es gab mehrere Erzählstränge. Si bien no fuí yo quien tomó el Tour con Joaquín, fui yo quien lo reservó. Quiero dejar aquí mis puntos:
1) Joaquín se comunicó conmigo días previos al tour para confirmar la asistencia, lo cual a uno como turista le genera muchisima tranquilidad y confianza.
2) Joaquín llegó super puntual, lo cual para un turistica donde todo es desconocido tambien le genera mucha tranquilidad.
3) Joaquín fué con mis padres y tías muy empatico y paciente a la hora explicar, tenia mucho conocimiento de lo que estaba explicando.
Mis padres quedaron muy contentos con su Tour.

“Truely local insight!”
Joaquin's passion for Abasto is easy to see. It's great to get the history of a local area of Buenos Aires, especially one that is so colourful with the history of the markets and immigrants, tango dancing and singing (local hero Carlos Gardel), the mafia and more. We also had drinks at a bar he recommended as well as dinner which served large sizes at a cheaper price that we had regularly seen. Highly recommended.
