Visit the nearest concentration camp to Berlin and find out the history of its evolution, from the Nazi concentration camp to the Soviet special camp.
This is not a pleasant visit for many, but it is certainly a must to never forget the memory and dignity of the victims. On our Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp Tour we will visit the nearest Nazi concentration camp facilities, we will learn about its history as a Nazi concentration camp and its subsequent evolution as Soviet special camp.
We will take a train from the meeting point and we will arrive to our destination in just 45 minutes. Once we get to the Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp, we will explore the most significant places inside, like the front door where we can find the inscription “Arbeit macht frei” (“Work makes you free”), the watchtowers, the Barrack 38, the nursing rooms, the punishments cells, the “Station Z” former gas chamber and the execution places.
We will then come across the Liberation Memorial, in memory of the Sachsenhausen Concentration Camps victims, and the obelisk in memory of the liberation of the camp, raised by the Soviet Union in 1961. Inside the Sachsenhausen Museum, we will dig deeper, on the basis of respect, into this paradigmatic place of political and racist terror of the XX century.
