I joined the Yokohama Port Opening History Walking Tour and had a wonderful experience. The guide explained not only the history of Yokohama but also how the city has developed into what it is today.
I was already familiar with the story of Commodore Perry's arrival because I enjoy learning about history, but seeing the actual sites and remnants from the period when Yokohama opened its port gave me a much deeper appreciation of that important moment in Japan's history.
The guide was exceptionally knowledgeable and answered all of my questions thoughtfully and clearly. I was also impressed by the guide's gentle, friendly manner, which made the tour both enjoyable and comfortable. It was obvious that the guide had a deep understanding of Yokohama's history and was passionate about sharing it.
I was also impressed by how well the historic buildings have been preserved. It was clear that many people have worked hard over the years to protect these valuable landmarks for future generations.
Yokohama is a fascinating city to visit, and this tour helped me see it from a new perspective. It also inspired me to visit even more historically significant places in Japan. I highly recommend this tour to anyone interested in Japanese history, architecture, and culture.
