“Not all tours are the same”

After a disappointing ‘no show’ from a different guide this tour was the complete opposite. We had a reassuring text to confirm our attendance. The guide was hugely knowledgeable and entertaining. The tour focused on less touristy areas and was all the better for it. Highly recommended.

“Free walking tour venice”

The guide decided to cancel the tour just when the tour should started at 3 pm. She wait till 10 past three, gave us a qr-code - a gift. This was the tour. I missed the reasons for the decion. It's a disapointed experience.

Our guide made clear answers to questions. Our only regret is that there isn’t a Locals Know 2 tour. The microphone/headset allowed the best hearing on any tour ever…however disappointing it was for the person who tagged along part way through. They complained they couldn’t hear!

We enjoyed getting to know the Dorsoduro district with its completely different atmosphere from the San Marco district. A district in which many are students who study here and local residents. We learned a lot from Alice about the place, about canals that became streets and other nice stories from the local history. Enjoyable tour, knowledgeable and enthusiastic guide, good content on history and other topics. Great use of audio guides. Compared to other 5 star tours I have done: 1. no context on where we were in Venice. Did not describe location of any stops except 2 churches, the lagoon and 1 bridge. I want to know where we are in Venice, simply name of square, 1 interesting fact about location, and was district and 1 thing about district. Guide was so intent on her script, we had no idea where we were or why important or interesting. Eg, started in Castello, what is that district, etc, Fava Sq, why, what? 2. Tour had few stops and long walks in between, as we got lost in Venice, so to speak. What is Canareggio, why is there a Jewish Qtr, I dont know and never will.

“Enlightening and enjoyable!”

First off we did this tour a couple of weeks ago and only now getting around to reviewing and second off - unfortunately we cannot recall name of our fair haired and very engaging guide - sorry!! We really enjoyed our two hour tour - chosen as it covered an area of Venice we particularly wanted to explore with a knowledgeable person - who - it turned out - was so completely passionate about her city. Listening to the history of Venice was quite an eye opener for us. Plus we hadn't quite grasped beforehand that Venice was made up of so many islands, large and small, hence all the bridges and waterways, of course!! Duh!. Also learnt as to why the buildings in the Jewish quarter were of 5 to 8 stories high . . . . The audio gear was very effective and our guide, who spoke very clear English (thank you!) could be easily heard. After the tour, our guide pointed us in the direction of local eateries where we found a small establishment by the canal where we very much enjoyed a couple of Spritzs with a selection of cicchetti. Oh - and last thing, our guide alerted us to the cast iron water fountains in Venice which dispense the most delicious cool water (cut down on plastic - refill your bottle !) Thank you again!

“An alternative picture of Venice”
