Excursion to Burano, Murano and Torcello

We will depart from a pier in the center of Venice, we will leave on a boat that will take us to the first of the three jewels of the day, the island of Murano. It is world famous for its crystal. This small town keeps the best master glassmakers in Europe. We will learn about the history of the famous Murano glass and learn in a traditional workshop how glass masters create their masterpieces. For centuries, the same craft techniques have been used to make these pieces of art. In addition, we will be able to discover the majestic Basilica of Santa Maria and Donato from the 7th century, one of the oldest churches in the Venetian lagoon originally built in the 7th century.

At the end we will move to the most colorful of the islands of the Venetian lagoon: Burano. We will immerse ourselves in its picturesque houses. According to a local legend, Burano got its rainbow look thanks to the fishermen who lived there, who used to paint their houses in bright and light colors so that they could find their way home while returning from the sea. The island is also internationally known for its rare handmade lace.

Then we will go to Torcello, the oldest island. It was the first settlement in the Venetian lagoon, its history dates back to the year 452. We will explore places such as the Throne of Attila or the Basilica of Santa Maria Assunta.
