It was so neat to have someone of Mayan decent as our guide and he even went to the university that he showed us. We really enjoyed the free walking tour with him. We red on some separate blogs that’s it’s good to tip $5-$10 per person so we did that.

According to us the guide was nice, spoke good english but was not very good prepared. E.g. he left us most of the time alone in the government building to read ourselves the written explanations of the paintings. Questions were not really answered in a way we expected from a guide.
Maybe he is just not experienced enough.
Fortunately we had other great tours and we still like to join one wherever we can.

“Amazing tour of centro Merida ”
I am a full time nomad. I travel all over the world as a pet sitter and I see these free tours everywhere but this is the first time I have ever been on one. Now I’m hooked! Oswaldo was a fabulous guide! He was so sweet, considerate and so knowledgeable! I found all the spots we visited interesting and the narratives fascinating! “The best guide and tour!”
We went on the 5.30pm tour with Ricardo and loved it. Being after sunset, it was nice and cool and it made the buildings we visited look more dramatic. Ricardo was super knowledgeable and friendly. And if not for taking a tour I might never have thought to go inside the historic buildings we visited. Learned a lot about Mayan history in Mérida and met a bunch of cool travellers. “Last time ”
The guide talked nonstop, really fast and was really difficult to understand. I find the script is a direct translation from Spanish and often does not make sense at times. I absolutely do not expect perfect English but it has to be understandable. Firing lots of dates and information that is immediately forgotten is not helpful. It feels like the guide tries pack so much information into two hours but less is definitely more in these circumstances. It's a good way to get orientated in a city but I think it will my last of these "free" tours.

Informative, relevant historical context, plenty of time to take photos, able to go into some of the main historic buildings to learn more. “Excelente tour”
Me ha encantado el tour. Aunque no recuerdo el nombre del guía, lo he hecho hoy miércoles 4 de septiembre a las 10:00. El guía ha sido muy ameno, le ha puesto mucha energía y además ha demostrado tener conocimientos muy profundos sobre todos los puntos que hemos recorrido y al responder a las preguntas que les hacíamos los turistas. Por decir algo, estaría bien incluir en algún momento una sección de recomendaciones prácticas (dónde comer, dónde ir a tomar una copa, sitios con música en directo...) aunque si le preguntas por cualquiera de estos aspectos al terminar el tour, te reponde sin problema. ¡Totalmente recomendable!

“Terrific introduction to Merida”
We really enjoyed our walking tour of Merida with Tania this morning! We learnt a great deal about the history of the town, the Mayans and the top sites of the city center. Tania was funny and knowledgeable, and since we were the only people on the English tour, we had a private tour! The organization’s website also had some great recommendations - we had a delicious lunch at Pancho Maiz - highly recommended.

“Free tour Mérida with Gabriela ”
Gabriela is a lovable guide. She told us a lot about the city of Merida, but also about the history of Mexico. She provided spot to have a sit a small pauses. Her English ist really clear!

“Todo muy bien”
El guía Luís, nos hizo pasar un par de horas muy agradables. Lo tenía todo bajo control y hacía muy amena la visita.
