Things to do Paseo Montejo in Merida Free Tour
Join us for a walking tour along Paseo de Montejo, led by local guides who will share the history and key landmarks of this emblematic avenue in Mérida. The tour begins at the Monument to Montejo and Son, an important point for understanding the city’s origins. We then continue to the Twin Houses, two residences known for their symmetry and presence within the urban landscape. Our route moves on to the Monument to Felipe Carrillo Puerto, where you will learn about the life and legacy of a central figure in Yucatán’s history. A little farther ahead is El Minaret Mansion, a distinctive site recognized for its design and unique tower. The tour includes a stop at the Museum of Anthropology, offering insight into the region’s cultural heritage, as well as the Quinta Montes Molina, a historic residence that preserves the atmosphere of Mérida’s past. Si te gusta la historia y el salseo, este es tu tour! Miguel sabe mucho de historia y ademas la explica de manera muy divertida! El tour se nos hizo corto a pesar de que duró mas de 2 horas.

“Ein absolutes Highlight in Mérida!”
Die Walking Tour entlang der Paseo Montejo mit Estación México war eines meiner Highlights in Mérida. Ohne diese Tour hätte ich die Geschichten hinter den prachtvollen Villen und dem Monumento a la Patria nie erfahren. Der Guide war super kompetent, witzig und hat viele spannende historische Details vermittelt – ohne trocken zu wirken.
Besonders beeindruckt hat mich, wie viel europäischer Einfluss sich in der Architektur widerspiegelt. Man merkt sofort, welche Bedeutung die Stadt früher durch den Henequén-Handel hatte.
Die Tour basiert auf Trinkgeld, was ich fair finde – man zahlt, was es einem wert ist. Ich kann die Tour jedem empfehlen, der sich für Kultur und Geschichte interessiert. Unbedingt bequeme Schuhe anziehen und Wasser mitnehmen!

Tuve una agradable csminata con mi guia ya que yo era la unica persona en el tour. Emoezamos a caminar admirando las bellas mansiones y escuchando las historias de algunas de ellas. También en este paseo comi mi primera marquesita y aprendi la historia de su nombre. Hablamos de la historia de Merida y de su cultura y política. Lo mejor fue el final al ver el Monumento a la Patria. Es muy impresionante y reoresenta muy bien la historia no solo de Merida, Yucatán si no que de todo Mexico.

“Non Existent Tour !!”
Our party of three arrived at the designated meeting place 10 minutes before the scheduled time to begin, and we waited until 20 minutes after the beginning time for the tour. No guide ever appeared or sent me a message as to a delay or cancellation.
We were extremely disappointed in our non-existent tour !!! Since we had no tour to review, I gave a 1 star rating in each of the areas since there was no way to provide a rating of zero.

“Merida - city of contrasts”
Max helped us to see absolutely different face of Merida. After two weeks of travelling around Yucatan we still receiving new information, knowledge about the history of this land. This part of Merida looks gorgeous, Max tried to tell the story behind every building we stoped at. He gave good recommendations for other places to visit. I can highly recommend this tour if you want to see Merida’s beauty.

“Excellent walking tour ”
Our guide was very knowledgeable and spoke excellent English. The sites were so neat to see and learning about the history was great. The kids thought it was so interesting and even commented that it was really great to learn. They are 11 and 14 and were not keen on a 2 hour walking tour but by the end they said it was awesome. Our guide, Oswaldo, was so friendly and seemed to know everything we asked about. Highly recommend this tour.

“Two amazing tours ”
We took this tour on the same day as the walking tour of Centro that is also offered by the company. Like the walking tour of Centro in the daytime, this tour was also just as amazing and allowed us to see another part of Merida in a different time of the day which was in the evening! We were also fortunate enough to have the same guide from the daytime tour and we were amazed by how much energy Gerry has to perform different types of tours of Merida throughout different times of the day! I definitely recommend spending a day touring Merida with this company by taking this tour along with the daytime tour of centro, it’s a good way to familiarize yourself with a great amount of Merida’s city in one day!

Ximena gave an incredible tour of Paseo Montejo. She was clear, considerate, and patient, and her explanations were very well thought out and historically interesting. She had an audience of three professional historians and she blew us all away with her narration of the history of the monuments, the role of henequen, the building of grand houses and their owners, eclectic architectural designs, and much of the social dynamics in the city in the context of labor, the caste war, and the revolution. “Guide No Show”
We arrived 30 mins early, and stayed there for another 20 mins after 6pm. I texted the guide through this messaging service with no response. This experience completely ruined our last day as we saved Paseo Montejo for the last day with this guide. After waiting, it was already dark and couldn’t even see the beauty of this street. Very upset with this experience, especially after we had such a great tour with you guys a couple days prior in Merida.

“History on a beautiful walk”
Had a great walking tour with Ricardo on the wondeful Paseo Montejo. Lots of history of the boulevard and Mexico provided by Ricardo...who was very good. My wife and I were the only ones on the tour which was great. Ricardo was on time, patient, very knowledgeable, and answered all our questions and made the tour very interesting. Great job!

“Loved the nighttime experience”
Doing a walking tour at night was a fun experience because you could see the mansions all lit up along the boulevard. Our guide Tania was sweet and enthusiastic but struggled with her English a bit when it came to historical explanations, and we also received the wrong meet-up spot for the tour. It would be good to work on the material a bit more to make it understandable and accessible for English-speaking participants.
