For many, the Gdańsk Shipyard is the cradle of “Solidarity” and a symbol of the fall of communism in Europe. For fans of industrial buildings, it is a magical space where the industrial architecture of the late 19th century meets the early 20th century, where relics of communism intertwine with modern 21st century architecture. The Gdańsk Shipyard is a place where imperialism changed into capitalism, where the industrial goals of Nazism changed into the industrial goals of socialism, where communism with the entire Iron Curtain changed into freedom, where the brutal hand of the free market changed the industrial space into a place of entrepreneurship, culture and entertainment. We will start our tour at Plac Solidarności (next to Pomnik Poległych Stoczniowców 1970 Monument), from where we will take a journey through the dark years of communism, arriving at the Shipyard, where a lot happened and is still happening. “Inspiring and Informative ”
Our guided was Dynamite! Literally and figuratively. The Shipyard tour was not what I expected, it was so much better. I highly recommend this tour, even if you don't think it's for you. The focus was on history post 1945, and the start of the end of Communist rule in Poland. This is the place where it happened.

The guide knew a lot about the (formal) activity of the warf and had a lot of information about Solidarinosc. It gives us new inside-information!

I liked the shipyard even more than the main town tour because of the proximity of the Solidarity events. The tour itself covered both Solidarity events and shipyard history across its existence.

“Werfttour mit Czarek”
Die Führung mit Czarek hat uns sehr gut gefallen. Wir haben zu viert an der Führung teilgenommen und waren alle sehr begeistert von dem großen Wissen und der engagierten Vermittlung von der Gründung der Werft bis heute. Czarek ist auch Zeitzeuge der Streiks Anfang der 80er Jahre die von der Werft ausgingen. Der polnische Weg zur Demokratie auch mit Solidarnosz wird thematisiert. Auch gibt es lohnenswerte Tipps fürs heutige Danzig. Czarek spricht sehr gut deutsch. Wir können diese und die Danziger Innenstadttout sehr empfehlen.

Thank you for this really interesting and fun tour! Our tourguide spoke great English and knew an answer to any detail, that was asked. It was an adventure following him through this area packed with architecture from different centuries, exciting ruins and modern industry.
Unfortunately the google-maps link in the booking confirmation email led us to the wrong meeting point, but the address given in the mail was correct, so finally we were able to find the group.
We would highly recommend this tour!
