Things to do Tour of Coimbra's Jewish Heritage

This walking tour will take you through the memories of the history of the Jewish community in Coimbra. Main Highlights: Old Jewish quarter, Jewish Fountain, Inquisition court of Coimbra facilities, Santa Cruz Church, Almedina gate, Monument to Fado Coimbra, Commerce Square, Pillory, Mikveh (outside), Manga garden, Corpus Christi chapel (outside), new Jewish quarter, St James church (outside), “Jews of Coimbra” exhibition. This tour is more focused on the Jewish Heritage (although I will also include some attractions that we will pass through that are not related to this topic in order to make the most of your time). Coimbra's Jewish community was particularly strong when the city was the capital of Portugal. This tour will help you better understand this presence but also the persecution the community suffered. We will end close to the “Jews of Coimbra” exhibition, which allows you to spend more time there if you want. To complement the tour, I use supporting materials such as photos, diagrams, and maps. I have all the necessary legal authorizations to carry out tours. Please note: This visit includes sensitive content related to the persecution of the Jewish community
