Descubre Melipulli - Free Walking Tour

Our cruise ship moored at Puerto Montt for the day. Didn’t want to do the excursion from the ship so booked this free walking tour. Nice small group and very nice guide Bernhard who showed us round and gave us a history lesson. Very good and interesting ????

We waited until 10:15 am and the guide did not show up. Unfortunately, as we are interested in learning more about Puerto Montt.

Booking was easy and reaching out to the guide for pick up information was easy and nicely organised. Anyway the guide gave us more the feeling of an ordinary walk through the city instead of a guided tour providing interesting knowledge about the city. The tour was more like a chat with Berni because he kept constantly asking questions in our direction. Plus the stories he told were basically some memories from his past. In addition we had the feeling that a couple of information He provided were not even true, e.g., he was talking about the oldest sailors at Puerto Montt, which were supposed to be 14 thousands years old, but the oldest boat ever found is only 8 thousand years old . He appeared in general quite confused. We gave him in person the same feedback and he was willing to adapt. We hope that by the next tour he has improved. Anyway he gave us some nice recommendations for food and beverages.

Bernhard was our tour guide, and from the first moment he was very friendly and keen to answer any of our questions. We were the only two people on the tour which an absolute treat! As a local and German, Bernhard provided insider information into the local customs and cool sights as well as providing some insight into some historic German influence. The fire station tour was a lovely unexpected treat (we were invited in spontaneously as we walked past after Bernhard chatted to the fire station employee), and the tastings of local cuisine at the market were also an unexpected bonus - we definitely got these added extras because Bernhard is so friendly and chatty to everyone ????! Afterwards Bernhard assured us we could ask him any questions about the area, and gave us the recommendation to walk onwards to Angelmo market (local fish market) which sure enough did not disappoint! We were late because our flight was delayed, but our guides waited for us patiently. They deliver a great tour, with lots of insides into the history of this place, Lucas and Bernard were great. Everyone in our group was very happy with the results and talk over and over about the great interaction with our guides.
