I appreciate the effort put into the tour and the enthusiasm of the guides. One suggestion for improvement would be to include more historical landmarks and reduce the focus on spots that didn’t have much relevance or seemed improvised on the spot.
When someone chooses a free tour, it’s often because they can’t or don’t want to pay the price of a standard tour. What I didn’t appreciate was that the suggested tip amount was mentioned three times during the tour, and it was very close to what a paid tour would cost. That kind of defeats the purpose of joining a “free” tour.
I’ve taken free tours all over the world and in none of them was a specific tip amount emphasized so much. I understand the need to suggest a contribution, but the repeated insistence felt a bit uncomfortable.
