At Christmas, the city of Brussels switches on all its lights and shows off all its markets making them Belgium´s main attraction.

Description

When the cold weather sets in so does the nicest time of the year and one of the great pleasures of winter (Plaisirs d´Hiver). The beautifully lit and decorated streets fill the city. Join us on our Christmas Markets in Brussels Tour and make the most of the festive traditions, the origins and the best atmosphere around. Christmas has begun in the Belgian capital!

To begin, we will set off on our route around the Grand Place, the historical and commercial heart of the city. Here, contemplate the beauty of its stunning guild houses where every Christmas season you can marvel at its incredible Christmas tree that goes up not to mention the popular sound and light show that takes place.

Visit the Church of Saint Nicholas where you can take in the finest Christmas spirit together with St. Nicholas, the patron saint of children during this season. Legend has it that every year he brings Belgian children gifts which is why he is such a liked figure.

Christmas Markets in Brussels

Wander along La Bourse, one of the most important monuments in Brussels and check out its popular Christmas market dotted with wooden huts where traditional products are sold. Continue towards Place Sainte Catherine, Brussel´s former port also known for its stands displaying gifts and souvenirs and its impressive Ferris wheel.

There will be a chance to visit the Tour Noire (the black tour) one of the few traces that remain from the old Belgian 12th century walls. This area boasts a market which every year sells products from different countries.

If you´re a bit more of an adventurer, you will just love this part of our visit to the Place de la Monnaie where Napoleon built a theatre as part of the leisure area in the city, the Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie and opera hall of Brussels. This is where you will find the ice rink par excellence that is set up every year during this period.

And for the icing on the cake, sample some festive traditional delicacies in Brussels.

Discover with us the Christmas Markets in Brussels Tour and enjoy first-hand the Christmas festivities, the colourful decorations, the presents, the lights and the magic of the most popular markets.
