Bamberg Free Old Town Tour
Bamberg Free Tour is an out of the ordinary experience run by enthusiastic local people full of love for their native hometown. Enjoy the entertaining stories along with the interesting historical knowledge of the place.
Things to do Bamberg Free Old Town Tour
All our tours start next to the "Face" sculpture "Centurione" at 11.00 a.m. . You can recognize your guide by a green and white "Free Walking Tour“ umbrella. The tour fits for all ages and cultural backgrounds and is accessible for wheelchairs, strollers and dogs. It takes two hours and ends next to the Sculpture where it started again. Our route includes: - Little Venice - Bamberg Cathedral - Alte Hofhaltung (old court) - Rose Gardens - View over the city - Old Town Hall - Brewery's Street - UNESCO World Heritage Old Town At the end of each tour you’re most welcome to provide your guide with a tip. That way you will only pay for what the tour was worth to you and your guide is constantly encouraged, to give his or her absolute best to share his passion for Bamberg with you! We are not financed by any umbrella-company and don't take any kind of provisions. See you soon in Bamberg!

Wir hatten eine entspannte Führung durch Bamberg bei der wir in das mittelalterliche Leben der Stadt eintauchen konnten ohne von Jahreszahlen bombardiert zu werden. Der Guide hat die Tourmitglieder auf nette Weise mit eingebunden.

“Broad coverage with Thomas Pregl”
I can recommend this Tour. Thomas covered so many different areas, e.g. food, beer, history and even the mentality of the Frankonians. He also brought us to the important World Heritage spots. Bring good shops to enjoy 2 1/2 hours of Old Town Bamberg.

“Super Altstadtführung durch Bamberg ”
Das war eine Stadtführung ganz nach unserem Geschmack. Kein Aufzählen von Jahreszahlen, die man sowieso schnell wieder vergisst.
Heike hat uns die Geschichte der Stadt und ihrer Menschen mit viel Humor und Hintergrundwissen nahe gebracht. Dafür ein herzliches Dankeschön

“Great Tour of Bamberg”
The guide was able to give us a great tour of the old towne. In addition, they gave us all the information on the different restaurants and what each place offers to eat/drink (e.g. the buttery pastry, the smokey beer, etc.). Very good experience.

“Don’t bother!”
Even though I received a reminder email about the walking tour happening the following day, no one turned up, I did not receive any notification that it was cancelled or postponed or anything. When I contacted them, all they said was they hadn’t been able to get any English speaking guides for months, so that’s why no one turned up. Very disappointing!

“No tour despite booking confirmation ”
Super disappointing! I have attended more than 20 free walking tours all over Europe but this was the worst experience ever. Me and my friend booked the tour one day in advance, we received a proper booking confirmation and we came even 15 min before the tour was supposed to start to the meeting point. Waited there 45 min but no guide showed up. We double checked the correct meeting point and time but we were right. Super bad und unprofessional service, if the tour doesn't take place, why sending booking confirmations and even asking for a feedback after a tour that never took place?! I wouldn't recommend this Bamberg free walking tour.

At 9 pm the day before the tour we got an email saying that they could not find an English speaking guide, but the got us the best German guide. Too bad our knowledge of German language wasn't that good to fully understand the content of the narration.

“Very good tour”
I really enjoyed this tour. It was both informative and entertaining, and the guide had a nice, relaxed style.
There was also practical information, like where to go if you want to try some local Rauchbier. I liked the fact that the guide stayed around for 'Q&A' at the end, so tourists could ask whatever practical questions they had about Bamberg.
I gave you only four stars for content, but that doesn't mean the content was bad - it was great! I just can't give five stars if I compare to the absolute best free tours I've had. Several European cities I've visited (e.g. Tallinn, Sofiya) have tours that really make you laugh or horrify you (or both) by telling anecdotes about weird and wild events in the city's history. That's a five-star tour for me. But this one was a solid four stars, and a real pleasure.

“Bamberg Old Town tour”
This was our first tour with FreeTour and we thoroughly liked it. We had no great expectation about the tour except that we wanted to experience it. Frau Sarah had great patience in explaining us about the brief history of the place. The tour was planned well and we don't had to repeat any parts.It was a full circle. She also offered her favorite beer in the end to the group.
We are already looking forward for a trip in Nürnberg.
