Driving from Lisbon, direction south, we will start our morning in Évora. Évora is a city full of history, originated in the Romain Times and where the royal family choose to live on the 15th century. The city is classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site due to the long history and urban preservation through the times. Apart from the history, it is the biggest wine region of Portugal, with powerful wines.
Once in Évora, we will start with a walking guided tour, through the historical center, surrounded by walls, where we fill a quiet and relaxed atmosphere. During the walking tour, you will have the chance to visit the The Roman Temple, an expression of the romain times and one of the best well preserved temples in Peninsula Ibérica; the Romanesque-Gothic Cathedral, from the 13th century and it is the biggest cathedral of Portugal, where we can easily find the transition from the roman to the gothic style; and the Chapel of Bones built on the 17th century, the idea was to convey the message of the transitoriness and fragility of human life, and where the decoration is with bones. You don’t want to miss this!
You will have some free time and once more we invite you to get lost in the small streets “à Portuguesa”, where you can enjoy a nice coffee and where you will find so many local shops with handicraft handmade products, in order to keep all the traditions alive.
In the afternoon, is time to know one of the best wine regions of the country. You will have the chance to visit one of the most prestigious wine producers of the region, it’s vineyards and finish with a wonderful wine tasting.
After that, is time to get back to Lisbon and the tour ends in the same location where we have departure in the morning.
