My name is István, a tour guide and a musician, and I've been doing tours in Budapest for 4 years. We cover everything from the city’s history from the past to its present, fun facts, culture, nightlife, music related stories and its hidden gems.

Welcome to Budapest! Finally, you are here! If you would like to discover the city like a local, join me on one of my tours! I would be happy to guide you through this amazing city and show you everything that Budapest has to offer! On the tour, we cover the most important sights and attractions such as: Historical City Centre St. Stephen’s Basilica Liberty Square Parliament Shoes on the Danube Chainbridge Castle District and much more… The tour is a great way to learn about Hungarian culture and to discover the city’s colourful history, from the founding of the State, through the Ottoman Occupation and the time of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy, up until the 21st century. I cover the most important sights through stories and fun facts, but also go off the beaten track to discover some hidden gems! Being a musician, I will cover some parts of history with music related stories and I’m eager to show you the artistic side of the city and the best places and venues to listen to and play some live music! I had a fantastic free walking tour of Budapest with Ivan. From the very beginning, his passion for the city's history and his engaging storytelling made the experience both informative and entertaining.
The 2.5-hour tour was well paced, with interesting facts, fun quizzes (and local chocolate prizes!), and visits to iconic landmarks such as St. Stephen's Basilica, Liberty Square, the Hungarian Parliament, and the Shoes on the Danube Bank.
Ivan was attentive to the group, kept everyone comfortable, and mixed history with humor in a way that never felt superficial.
I also enjoyed learning about famous Hungarian inventions like the Rubik's Cube, the ballpoint pen, and the discovery of vitamin C from paprika.
Highly recommended if you're looking for a knowledgeable, friendly, and genuinely passionate guide in Budapest.

What a refreshing experience to have someone so natural that loves his city and his job!
It was just the perfect combination between history, culture, practical information with a lot of references and tips about music, movies, etc and fun!
I appreciated the local perspective. I think it's an amazing added value to have the chance to speak to a true local who can help you walk in the shoes if a Hungarian/someone from Budapest.
I loved the sincerity and telling the stories with an open heart and mind, opening the floor for all tourists in the group share their point of view and experiences. He was constantly interacting with everyone, being super nice and cautious - he even brought sun screen and umbrella! because summer in Budapest can be too much sometimes.

“Super amazing tour from Istvan”
Istvan really was a great tour guide. His passion for his country & city is unparalled. The tour is reasonably long but whizzed by so quickly, because everything is so interesting, funny or poignant. I came away from it with a real respect for his art of delivery and full to the brim with useful knowledge that I'd gained about Budapest. Thoroughly recomend this on your next trip to Budapest.
