Things to do Free Tour in Aveiro: A Journey Through Time
Join us for an unforgettable walking tour through Aveiro, an actual open-air museum. Our journey begins at Praça da República, where we’ll encounter a rich blend of architectural styles, from the 17th century to the 20th century. Our walk also takes us back in time, as we trace the path of Aveiro’s old city walls. Unfortunatly nothing remains of the old walls but we'll follow their path and stop at key locations where they once stood. To help bring the past to life, I’ll share vintage photographs, giving you a glimpse into how the city has evolved over the centuries. As we stroll through the city’s streets and canals, we’ll explore one of Aveiro’s most captivating features: its Art Nouveau architecture. Known elsewhere as Moderne Style, Jugendstil, Liberty, or Secession, this elegant style is characterized by flowing, sinuous lines, floral and plant-inspired motifs, graceful ironwork, and colorful tiles.

“Lovely tour around Aveiro with Paula”
It was very good time in Aveiro, where during 2h tour with Paula we found out a lot about the city and Portugal, both historical and contemporary. It allowed us to spot the details and facts which we would never see without the guide. Paula was very welcome, answered all our questions, also outside scope of the tour and left us with good recommendations for the rest of our stay. Highly recommend!

“Excellent tour”
Paula was very knowledgeable and entertaining. The two hour tour passed really quickly as it was so interesting, but I came away feeling I knew lots about Aveiro, it's history, architecture, customs... Fascinating. I would highly recommend this tour. Later we went on a boat trip which was nice, but if you have time for only one tour... Do the walking tour.. You see more and learn more.

We had chosen the Portuguese language tour as an incentive for us to learn more about Aveiro as well as improving our Portuguese.
On both parts it was a good experience as we strolled through the old streets.
Very recommendable if you want to get a good introduction to this small city.

Me and a friend booked the tour spontaneously on the way from Porto to Aveiro.
The tour was very good. It gave detailed information on the history of the town and its trial troughout the history. We learned a lot about the town!

“Constrangimento”
O APP tem um problema muito grave. As instruções indicam que poderíamos pagar ao guia o valor que achássemos justo ou compatível. Entretanto, a guia PAULA NUNES se sentiu desprestigiada no ato do pagamento, ao final do tour, manifestando seu desapontamento perante mim e minha família, causando constrangimento e um clima realmente péssimo. Foi a primeira vez que fazia esse tipo de atividade e realmente não tenho o costume de precificar o serviço que foi prestado.
Como recomendação aos administradores do APP, tenho a convicção de que os senhores devem sugerir o valor a ser pago aos guias. Vejam bem, eu disse recomendação de valores. Isso evitaria futuros constrangimentos que, por infelicidade, aconteceu comigo hoje.
O valor mínimo cobrado pela guia PAULA NUNES hoje foi de 10 euros por pessoa e em lugar nenhum do APP isso foi mencionado. Ou seja, eu, minha esposa e minha filha, deveríamos pagar 30 euros.
A guia PAULA NUNES, em tom de frustração, mencionou que precisava pagar o APP, e os impostos, e que, por isso, não poderia receber valor menor que 10 euros por pessoa.
Resultado: esta foi a primeira e última vez que utilizo o APP. Não vou indicar para ninguém.

Paula was a fantastic guide — she showed us all the main sights of Aveiro, from the canals and colourful houses to the beautiful Art Nouveau architecture. She shared plenty of local history, gave great tips and tricks for exploring the city, and even recommended some brilliant spots to eat and drink. The tour had a perfect pace, she answered every question, helped us capture lovely photos, and was just a genuinely warm, likeable person. Highly recommend!

Our guide Paula was enthusiastic, knowledgeable and fun and took us to all the must see neighbourhoods of Aveiro. She pointed out the Art Nouveau buildings and gave us recommendations on where to eat, where to buy the egg pastries and ice cream. Later I asked for recommendations of where to go outside of Aveiro and she sent me a big list of places to go. She went out of her way to share her city with us. Thank you!!

Informative and interesting walk around the old walls of the city and through the new village Paula had so much information and photos of what the city looked like years ago she answered lots of random questions and offered recommendations for restaurants and sights to see. Our recent tour of Aveiro was absolutely incredible, and that's thanks in large part to our amazing tour guide, Paula. From the moment we met her, Paula was warm, welcoming, and incredibly knowledgeable.
We learned so much about everything from the charming moliceiro boats to the city's unique architecture and delicious ovos moles. Paula answered all our questions with patience and enthusiasm, making sure everything was clear for us.
She also pointed out hidden gems and offered excellent local recommendations that we wouldn't have discovered on our own.

“Great tour”
Our guide Paula was excellent!! She had amazing knowledge of Aveiro, the history of the town, its people and in particular Art Nouveau. Paula was easy to understand and always pointed out details which we would have missed!
Paula showed us buildings, took us to the cemetary which was different and interesting and out to where the salt is harvested.
We can highly recommend Paula, you will see Aveiro in a different and well informed light and will be impressed with what it has to offer!
