We will start our tour in front of one of the most emblematic buildings of Aveiro, converted into the Museu da Arte Nova. From there, we will be able to observe the central canal and learn about Aveiro's curious environment, how its origin came about, and the reason for its canals. Next, we will explore the Mercado do Peixe, learning about the local gastronomy, and discover curious traditions in the chapel of São Gonzalinho. After visiting the church of Nossa Senhora da Presentação, we will pass the Obelisco da Liberdade to cross the central canal among the statues of traditional Aveirian trades. Once on the south bank, we will go into the old walled Aveiro to visit the Church of Mercy, the City Hall, the Marques de Pombal Square, and the Cathedral of Aveiro, to finish back along the central canal, between the bridges of friendship and the old captaincy.
