Free Tour: How Stuttgart Became What It Is Today

Over the course of two hours, your guide—who holds a degree in Sociology and Communication—will help you discover (and understand) why Stuttgart has established itself today as one of the best destinations to visit in Germany. On this tour, we’ll follow the different stages of the city’s evolution in chronological order. We’ll cover everything from the era of its counts, dukes, and kings (in that specific order) to its meteoric rise following the Industrial Revolution and the invention of the automobile—an innovation that catapulted Stuttgart onto the world stage. Of course, we’ll also highlight its political importance as a state capital, its iconic annual festivals (home to some of Germany’s most popular wine and beer festivals, as well as its famous Christmas markets), and its delicious traditional cuisine.
