Christian gave us a lot of informations about the history of Rome. We learned a lot. We liked that the tour was at this time because it was less crowdy and the wheather was also cooler than during the day. We had a lot of good points of view of the Forum. This tour was worth it. The only thing is that we were a big group of 26 so it was sometimes difficult to understand well because of the noise.

Ancient Rome by night was an incredible experience, especially thanks to the guide Jacobo. He did a wonderful job, explaining us so much and with such passion. Not one of those boring history lessons, but a stunning experience. We sure did some walking that night, but it was all worth it. Highly recommendable!

“Stopping Back in Time”
our guide, Christian was excellent. He provide facts and information about Rome and Roman times. The places we visited told the story in the order it occurred and it really painted the picture of why places were built as they were and how the emperor over time helped or hindered the development of the Roman empire.
Christian added humor and enthusiasm. This made the subject easier to digest and built meaning. He was professional, intelligent in this subject and friendly. His English was good. We loved this tour.

“Very disappointed in the large group size”
Was so looking forward to this tour, as I have done other Freetours in the past. All was well with the usual intimate size of the group when someone showed up with 23 guests! To make matters worse, he was charging them for the tour- keeping some for himself and passing the rest to the guide. The assigned guide was apologetic to the rest of us- explainng what had happened and stating he needed to check with his company (What About Tours). The tour finally started 35 minutes late- with everyone! My travel partner is hard-of-hearing, which is why we signed up for the small group experience. Sadly, due to the large group size, he could not hear much and we quietly left after the second stop. This frustrating experience totally violates the purpose of the small-group concept of the FreeTour. Very disappointed- because I could hear the guide and he was excellent.

“Even more than I expected!!”
I have done four free walking tours in the last year and they have all been good. Two have been great and this was one of them. Jacopo excelled with the right balance of humor, participant engagement, pace and detailed information. He kept my teens engaged as well and was highly knowledgable, answering my various questions. If I were to have taken this tour earlier in my trip, I would have signed up for his other tours as well! Thank you Jacopo, this tour was even better than I expected.

Went on a Free Walking Tour at night in Rome about Ancient Rome and its monuments. The tour guide-Jacob was very knowledgeable and led the tour with historical facts and interesting anecdotes. He truly knows the history of Ancient Rome from the rise and eventual fall of the Roman Empire and the rise of Christianity. He also talked about the Ceasars and Emperors of the Roman Empire, with their contributions to the City of Rome by building monuments and also the places where historic events happened.

We joined the free night tour with Jacopo yesterday, and it was a fantastic experience. Jacopo is a natural storyteller—he didn’t just rattle off dates and facts; he shared interesting insights in such an entertaining way that the history actually stuck with us. He was incredibly knowledgeable and took the time to answer all our extra questions thoroughly.
Seeing Rome at night is truly something special. Even the rain added to the atmosphere, making the city lights reflect beautifully off the wet cobblestones and monuments. This tour was fabulous. I could listen to Jacub all day. He really knew his history and was able to tell it well. This is probably my favourite ever free walking tour and I've done a lot. And seeing the forum and Colosseum all lit up at night and without the crowds was fantastic. Highly recommend.

Iris our guide had so much energy, knowledge and animation. She absolutely made this tour interesting and it was a great choice for our first night arrival in Rome to get our bearings. Her English was excellent and she set the expectations early which was comforting for those doing a first time Free tour like me. She highlighted early on that the Colosseum was the end point and just the icing on the cake. Two hours was the perfect length. We did have trouble locating the actual meeting point building so allow extra time as Rome streets are confusing.
